  1. Hi.
We live on Smithy Lane and was wondering as to why no speed bumps or other speed deterrents on this road due to the school. The speed of some vehicles is frightening at some times . If the lights on green at the junction, vehicles speed up to beat the lights and regardless of this vehicles do not take any notice at all of the 20mph speed limit (which is also not displayed enough) We have lived here a few years now and have noticed the traffic busier especially more and more wagons. It seems to be used as a cut through for traffic to get onto hall lane to cut through to Rainhill, probably heading for motorway. This is becoming a growing concern especially with so many children around school time and the amount of parked vehicles at this time doing school pick up/drop off which certainly obscures the view of the road and the vehicles travelling at speed for children and adults alike. We also have an 8 yr old who we are afraid to let outside his own house due to the speed of some vehicles. I feel it is only a matter of time before there is an accident and I only hope it is not going to take a fatal accident to happen before this is even looked into.
I look forward to your reply even if it is only to advise what the next step would be for myself and possibly other residents to take to have this looked into before a child is knocked over.

    1. Hi Lisa,
I have forwarded your email to the Parish Council email address crontonparishcouncil10@gmail.com for it to be included in Correspondence at their next meeting, which is on Monday 16th October, 7pm at the Parish Council office on Hampton Drive. You are also able to attend and put your point across personally if you wish to.
Having lived here for over 30 years I did witness an accident involving a child outside the CE school when my children attended there. (They are now adults.) This still did not result in any traffic calming measures. However the volume of traffic and the parking are far worse now so maybe you will get a better response.
      Good luck with it.
      Regards,
      Bess Smith
